You guys ready for this? It’s the first official look at Elmo underneath (erm, above?) a new performer.
I’m pretty certain this is still Ryan Dillion doing the puppeteering (we first got a glimpse of Dillion with Elmo in this video), and, in my personal opinion, he’s doing a fantastic job with Elmo thus far. The voice is pretty close to Clash’s, and Elmo’s movements seem fluid and very Elmo-esque. It’s not a perfect performance just yet, but definitely close. I’m excited to see how Dillion grows as a performer and works with Elmo even more in the future.
Anyway, in the video Murray (performed by the awesome Joey Mazz) and Elmo learn about National Parks and birds. It makes for a fun watch!
1 photo/day 799: so today I met the French Elmo. @karokass and I had met up to exchange contraband before my trip tomorrow, and of all places she chose the spot where they were having the Caesars (French Oscars) to meet. We were talking about the differences in celebrity culture between France and the US when a guy with a puppet walked in.
Turns out it was Christophe Albertini, and he agreed with my assessment and joined in to say he loved American positivity. Obviously I had to prove my point about Americans caring more about celebrities than the French by getting my photo taken with him. I think it made his night (but then again he was already a happy guy to begin with).

I’LL ESCAPE NOW FROM THAT WORLD
FROM THE WORLD OF JEAN VALJEAN
THERE IS NO WHERE I CAN TURN
THERE IS NO WAY TO GO OOOOOONNN

Matt, Joey Mazz, and Kevin speaking for a panel of people and being (of course) ridiculous.
Ooh I have not seen this before.
I have some really awful news for you guys. Kevin Clash has officially resigned from Sesame Street.
In a statement released Tuesday to The New York Times, Sesame Workshop said, “None of us, especially Kevin, want anything to divert our attention from our focus on serving as a leading educational organization. Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding Kevin’s personal life has become a distraction that none of us want, and he has concluded that he can no longer be effective in his job and has resigned from Sesame Street. This is a sad day for Sesame Street.”
You can read the entire article for more details, and I’m sure (while the transition will be shaky) Sesame will be fine in the long run.
But this is still a really depressing moment. I don’t know about all of you, but I grew up with Elmo. I watched Elmo’s World every weekday morning and afternoon. Elmo taught me so much, and as I grew I only ever gained the sincerest amount of respect for Kevin and the amazing work that he did for Sesame and the Muppets over the years. I can’t imagine Sesame without him.
This is a sad day indeed.

connquest submitted: Have you heard about Kevin Clash, It's a sad day for Sesame Street fans
Holy crap. Just googled about it.
For those as clueless as I was, Kevin Clash has been accused of having an affair with a 16 year old boy, who was working for Sesame Workshop.
I hope that things clear up quickly. And it’s a real fucking shame that Kevin has been outted in such a way, especially when he would have preferred to keep his private life private.
What really bugs me is that a lot of people, and media, read an accusation and story like this as immediate guilt. I really hope this won’t be the case for this story…
Also, I suggest reading Julia’s take on this. Because she basically said what I wanted to say and better.
