Muppet Avengers, part 13 of 13.*

And they said it wouldn’t be done.

Big Mean Carl as Thanos, the Frackles as the Chitauri.

Wow. So, uh, after taking THREE MONTHS to finish this drawing, it’s…uh…the most obscure Muppets I’ve used. For those who weren’t Muppet fans in the early 90s, Big Mean Carl was a destruction-loving monstrosity from Muppets Tonight who was obsessed with eating, breaking, and generally performing the most entertaining routines on the program. I still love him, even if the rest of the show was pretty mediocre.

I figured that Thanos deserved an obscure Muppet, considering I feel like I’ve had to explain to everyone who he is. He’s Marvel’s big bad, a giant alien obsessed with death. Carl once ate a lot of bunnies. That’s basically the same thing.

Well, it’s been fun. There’s some odds and ends left to wrap up, but man, it’s been a good ride. I’m gonna have to start something else soon, aren’t I?

This is adorable! [Kermit as Hawkeye, Miss Piggy as Black Widow, Sam the Eagle as Captain America (of course!), Iron Chicken on further consideration that is Gonzo as Iron Man, Animal as Thor, Rowlf as Nick Fury. And maybe that’s Sweetums as the Hulk.]

Hey, remember when I used to update Muppet Avengers? Heck, do you remember when I used to update my Tumblr at all? OH WELL PEOPLE STILL LIKE AVENGERS.

ANYWAY:

Muppet Avengers, part 11 of 13. Sweetums as the Hulk.

So as you might remember, I already drew Animal as Bruce Banner. However, for years, Banner and Hulk were portrayed by different actors, so I figured I’d continue that legacy. Plus, Sweetums is awesome. Usually I explain why I chose the Muppet for the role, but I think it’s obvious in this case. Sweetums is the biggest, toughest Muppet around, but he does have a heart of gold. His Muppet Treasure Island role is classic Hulk.

It took me a lot of work to get this one right, which was part of why it’s been so long since I updated. However, I think it paid off. Still a little unsure about the shade of green I chose. If you think it should be changed, tell me!

Up next: Okay, I know everyone’s been waiting on Loki. I hope I don’t disappoint.

Muppet Avengers, part 10 of 13. Floyd Pepper as Hawkeye.

Making Floyd Hawkeye was based more on the ensemble than on the individual characters, although both are exceedingly hip. With Dr. Teeth as Nick Fury, Scooter as a SHIELD Agent, and Janice as Black Widow, continuing making the Electric Mayhem into SHIELD worked very nicely.

Plus, we all know that there was always something going on backstage between Janice and Floyd. Love was just for children, and they were too hip for that. They had a debt of rock.

Anyway.
